‘Inside Superamas’ geeft de aftrap van de samenwerking die het performancecollectief en Vooruit de komende jaren aangaan. De leden van Superamas zullen ruimte krijgen om het podiumprogramma mee te ontwikkelen en erop in te breken. Op deze avond zullen de Superamas samen met air-hostess Elisa Benureau en gogo-danseres Yalda scènes uit hun repertoire hernemen. Deze korte performances worden daarna op de korrel genomen door de kunstcritici Elke Van Campenhout, Frank Van De Veire en Rudi Laermans.

‘Inside Superamas’ is the kick-off of the collaboration between Superamas and Arts Centre Vooruit during the next couple of years. The members of Superamas will be given space and time to co-develop the theatre programmation of Vooruit and break into it.

On this evening Superamas will re-enact scenes from their repertoire, together with air-hostess Elisa Benureau and gogo-danser Yalda. These short performances will then be criticised on the spot by art critics Elke Van Campenhout, Frank Van De Veire and Rudi Laermans.

How do artists work today? How do they speak about their method? How can one make a start with documenting, discussing and sharing the hybrid and heterogeneous practices that underpin the performing arts today? How can the informal and embodied discourses, as well as the implicit knowledge they carry, find a wider recognition and accessibility? A series of monthly salons, organized by Sarma on different locations in Brussels, create a live research environment for makers and researchers to address issues of new artistic practices and discourses.

Many performance artists work with scores or self-imposed constraints. Yet what do scores and constraints do precisely? How do they function and how do they effect the organisation of a working process or a performance situation? And more widely: what can they mean for today’s larger artistic landscape? Several artists will enter into dialogue around these questions.

Afgelopen maandag 5 december vond de terugkeervoorstelling van Leentje Vandenbussche, Tijs Ceulemans en Peter Aers plaats in De Werf te Brugge.

Meteen na hun terugkomst in België gingen de makers op het podium. Op die manier vertelden ze zo doorleefd en eerlijk als mogelijk hun ervaring met het sterven aan de Ganges in India.

The installation Diggin' Up 2 by SUPERAMAS will be presented here.

Nested in the light-work installation Diggin' Up 2 (Digital light/Absorption), the bodies and their presence are presented to the eye in a reversed way: instead of reflecting the light, they are absorbing it.

The graph inside which these bodies register offers different outlines, different representational codes. The hypnotic aspect of the meeting invites the eye to measure how relative the notion of space is.

With Diggin' Up 2, we now dive in another space of representation. This time with a strong focus on the ambiguity of the performer's "presence". The performance/installation can be played with and without performers. Therefore do we still need "live" performers? Or could we say that their representation is good enough to register their presence on stage? This work obviously questions how we perceive the subject. It leads us to reconsider our own activating role within this setting. Something comes up, fades away and finally returns… this is what we are invited to experience. Through this mechanism of emptying the subject and the object, we of course outline a shift from spectator to director. Each spectator will effectively realize his own personal piece according his optical abilities, the time span spent with the work… according to the present circumstances.

In today's distance free communication technologies, 3D images and avatars, Diggin'up 2 powers a sensual experience of a space in constant motion.

Sinds april 2011 werken theatermakers Peter Aers, Tijs Ceulemans  & Leentje Vandenbussche aan X / Een oefening in verdwijnen. Een intensief onderzoek omtrent ‘het sterven’ in literatuur, wetenschap en praktijk. Dit najaar gaan ze werken in dodenhuizen bij de Ganges in India om in mei 2012 hun onderzoek af te ronden met drie voorstellingen in coproductie met de West-Vlaamse kunstencentra: LIGHT (première: 3/05 De Werf, Brugge), MEDIUM (première: 10/05 BUDA, Kortrijk) en STRONG (première: 17/05 Vrijstaat O, Oostende).
 
Centraal staat de confrontatie van de drie makers met het onderwerp zelf én de dialoog daarover met een publiek. Sterven of iemand zien sterven is niet evident. En in tegenstelling tot andere ingrijpende veranderingen, kan hierbij niemand “vanuit de ervaring” spreken. En toch blijkt tijdens publieksmomenten dat mensen er net graag over praten. De behoefte aan een context om het over de dood te kunnen hebben, is groot.

Op 5/12 komen ze net terug van Manikarnika Ghat in India, waar ze een paar weken verbleven om er langs de Ganges te helpen bij de rituele verbrandingen. Ze duiken rechtstreeks van Zaventem het podium op in De Werf om hun ervaringen met ons te delen. JOIN THE BUS!

Who do we really refer to when we use the expression ‘beginning artists’? How long can one be a ‘beginning’ artist and what comes next? Some artists find themselves operating time and again in festivals or production houses for beginning artists. Is it because they are reinventing and reorienting themselves all the time? Or has this circuit for beginning artists become a sort of habitat rather than a springboard for a next level? Who are the residents of this habitat? How did it come into being and how does it shape us?

Bâtard invited Sarma to speak to some ‘beginning’ collectives, with each of them having a particular view on this habitat, each of them their own motives to invent a sort of niche for sharing work, support or simply a voice, and each of them hosting a particular practice of collaboration. Diederik Peeters translated his lecture about the “desire of an archetypical individual artist” (April 2011, first presented at the launch of the field analysis of VTI) for us to English; the other members of SPIN will be present to contextualize this lecture and to speak about their collective desire to put the artist back in the centre of all aspects of art making. CABRA is invited to discuss collaboration on and off stage, open source production, various forms of engagement towards each other’s work, and friendship.

In 2011 Sarma organizes a series of monthly salons which all focus on new artistic practices and discourses. How do artists work today? How do they speak about their method? How can one make a start with documenting, discussing and sharing the hybrid and heterogeneous practices that underpin the performing arts today? How can the informal and embodied discourses, as well as the implicit knowledge they carry, find a wider recognition and accessibility? During the salon at Bâtard we will speak about practices of structural collaboration, both the political and artistic aspects of working together, and self-organization among artists.
