Based in Brussels, Anna Rispoli was born in Bassano del Grappa, a small north Italian village famous for its “ponte degli alpine”. Throughout her visual works and performances she has investigated conceptual possibilities and aesthetic options between public spaces and private territories. ZimmerFrei is the collaborative practice she initiated with Anna de Manincor and Massimo Carozzi. Mixing formal languages, ZimmerFrei investigates real and imaginary environments where the mental and the physical blend into a coherent narrative of human experience. The group was invited to the 50th Venice Biennale of Art of Venice; to Reaction – 51st Venice Biennale and to the latest Manifesta07 for an exhibition curated by Adam Budak. For the semester 2008/2009 Anna Rispoli/ZimmerFrei were in residence at the International Curatorial Program Studio, NYC.
